埃德加·爱伦·坡（Edgar Allan Poe，1809年1月19日—1849年10月7日）是19世纪美国著名的詩人、短篇小說作家、編輯和文學評論家，亦是美國浪漫主義者的先鋒。其作品风格独特，语言和形式精致、优美，很难将他的作品归为某一个流派，但是“唯美”这个词可以用来形容他所有的作品以及他本人。坡最大的成就在于他的文学思想和理论，他的推理和恐怖小說最广为人知，而坡最看重的是自己的诗，可惜在当时其中无论哪一样都没有获得应有的评价，被19世纪评论界排斥的坡对自己却毫无怀疑，他在散文诗《我发现了》中写道：“我可以花一个世纪来等待读者……”。他對科幻小說的發展亦扮演著重要的角色。
