維基韩素音是英籍女作家伊丽莎白·柯默（Elisabeth Comber）的笔名，原名周光湖（Rosalie Elisabeth Kuanghu Chow），1917年9月12日生于河南信阳。她的主要作品取材于20世纪中国生活和历史，体裁有小说和自传。 父亲是留比的中国工程师，母亲是比利时人。1931年，还没满15岁时，在北京医院当打字员。1933年周光湖入燕京大学学习，1935到比利时的首都布鲁塞尔学医。1938年回国，同年和国民党军官唐某结了婚，后者于1947年战亡。1944年留学英国伦敦，1948年毕业，返回香港从医。1952年周光湖嫁与出版商康柏（ L.F.
