Mosaic是第一個可以顯示圖片的瀏覽器。它是由美國伊利諾州的伊利諾大學的NCSA組織在1993年所發表。在當時人氣爆發的大受歡迎。Mosaic的出現，算是點燃後來網際網路熱潮的火種之一。 當時的Mosaic開發的中心人物馬克·安德生（Marc Andreessen）和Silicon Graphics（電腦繪圖用的高性能電腦製造公司，簡稱為SGI，中譯則是視算）公司的創始人吉姆·克拉克（Jim Clark）設立了「Mosaic Communication Corporation」，這家公司之後1994年11月改名為「Netscape Communication Corporation」，此後沿用至今，中譯為網景。 Mosaic的最先版本Alpha版（1993年1月）只能在X Window系統上執行，直到同年9月才支援Macintosh和Windows等作業系統。 但是現在NCSA Mosaic已無人在更新，且原始碼早已公開，任何有能力的程式設計師都可以拿他來做進一步的開發，Mosaic對網際網路的貢獻將永載史冊。 外部链接 NCSA組織首頁 |
